ATHANASOULIS MANOR HOUSE

AT THE FOOTHILLS OF MOUNT OLIGYRTOS

LOCATED AT THE FOOTHILLS OF MOUNT OLIGYRTOS (1,935 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL, AT THE MEETING POINT OF ARGOLIS, CORINTHIA AND ARCADIA PREFECTURES), ON THE EDGE OF AN IMPOSING PINE FOREST, IT OCCUPIES A PROMINENT POSITION IN THE VILLAGE OF LAFKA.

It was built in 1888 by the mayor of Stymphalia, Dr Georgios Athanasoulis, at the same time as the village church of Agios Athanasios, with the help of skilled craftsmen from Lagkadia, the so-called 'Lagkadiotes'. It was renovated and extended in the 1970s by Aristides Papathanos, the grandson of Georgios Athanasoulis, and was given its current form in the 1990s by Christos Papathanos.
