THE ORCHARDS OF KARYON

IN THE PREFECTURE OF CORINTHIA

NESTLED WITHIN THE PICTURESQUE PREFECTURE OF CORINTHIA, THE WALNUT ORCHARDS OF KARYON FLOURISH IN THE CHARMING COMMUNITY OF LAFKA. THIS IDYLLIC LOCATION IS SITUATED ALONGSIDE THE CAPTIVATING LAKE STYMPHALIA, GRACING THE LANDSCAPE AT AN ELEVATION OF 620 METERS.

Situated on the northern foothills of Oligyrtos, opposite Ziria, our orchards thrive in the fertile plain that unfolds toward Lake Stymphalia.

The orchards and the adjoining plain are nourished by a communal irrigation system drawing from Lake Stymphalia. The deep, fertile soils coupled with abundant water resources and refreshing northern currents from Ziria, create optimal conditions for cultivating walnut trees that yield large and delicious fruit.

Introduced in 2017, the initial planting featured the Chandler variety, imported from France. Currently, the orchards boast 1250 Chandler trees and 50 Franquette trees, strategically planned for pollination.

The selection of the Chandler variety was driven by its prolific productivity, late maturity (attributed to the altitude), and the distinctive, delectable quality of its fruits.
